Dr Ewa Downie

I am a doctor qualified in fields of general adult psychiatry, rehabilitation psychiatry, addictions psychiatry. I am GMC registered with a licence to practice and I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

I have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating of all mental disorders, such as mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar, psychotic illness, eating disorders, complex trauma, and personality disorders. I have over 26 years experience working in psychiatry in various settings such as inpatients, community, crisis team. I have worked into NHS Older Persons Psychiatry services in the last 4 years.

I have trained in various psychotherapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal therapy, transactional analysis and motivational interviewing.

I use a formulation-based approach which helps with gaining an understanding of issues causing distress, analysis of factors that influence that before working out mutually accepted treatment plans.

I am very approachable and easy to talk to.
